AreaRugs has substantial inventory and customer traffic, but we saw an opportunity to improve their digital experience. We revamped their Shopify architecture by integrating Rebuy-powered upsells and bundles. The new navigation system allows easy exploration of over 7,000 SKUs, with intuitive filters and optimized product detail pages (PDPs) for a better shopping experience.

AreaRugs faced a unique challenge. They had the traffic and the inventory, but lacked a digital experience that could match their scale and ambition. With a vast SKU count and a diverse customer base, they needed more than a visual refresh. We comprehensively restructured their site architecture and powered up their upsells and cross-sells with Rebuy. We simplified the customer journey, making exploring, filtering, and finding the perfect rug easier. All this while elevating their brand storytelling, which a clunky UX had previously buried.


A Homepage Built to Navigate, Not Just Decorate
For a brand with thousands of SKUs, a 'simple' homepage doesn’t mean minimal—it means intuitive. We redesigned the homepage to function like a concierge, guiding visitors to their desired products rather than just showcasing them. Bright category highlights, refined collection tiles, and conversion-focused messaging helped visitors orient quickly and delve deeper, whether looking for a specific rug or seeking inspiration.

Filters That Actually Work (and PDPs That Do, Too)
It’s one thing to offer size, shape, and material options. It’s another to design a UX that helps customers confidently narrow 7,000+ possibilities down to one. We overhauled the collection and product detail pages, introducing smarter filters, real-time visual updates, and buying controls built for speed. Then we integrated Rebuy to surface complementary items, recommended pairings, and personalized bundles throughout the journey.


Turning Browsers into Buyers (and Buyers into Believers)
AreaRugs' goal wasn’t just to increase transactions and boost user confidence. This meant infusing the site with social proof, care guides, review content, and a more unmistakable brand voice that reassured users they weren’t just buying a rug—they were upgrading their space. We raised expectations by refining the storytelling and incorporating high-impact merchandising moments powered by Rebuy.
